Piano Circus premiere of Aerobatics Over Lake Wanaka 17 Jun

25th Anniversary comeback concert features Adrian's 6-piano work

In 1991, only a couple of years after graduating, I heard the amazing Piano Circus play Graham Fitkin's dazzling Flak on a CD, and was so inspired by its uplifting sound that I felt compelled to respond.  So I wrote a three-movement work, and that at the time I named it Double Piano Sonata, even though in truth it needed more than just two pianos to play it! The piece lay forgotten, gathering dust in the drawer for many years, but Paul Cassidy from Piano Circus approached me a few years back after hearing a studio rendition of it and expressed interest in having Piano Circus perform it in a 6-piano form.

And so on July 2nd at Bush Hall, Piano Circus - after 24 years - gave the world premiere of Aerobatics over Lake Wanaka, which I've detached from the rest of the work and made standalone, reworking it for Piano Circus' epic sound.
