Projects: Concert

First seen at the National Theatre in 2007 when it was hailed by The Times as "the theatrical event of the decade" War Horse is the most successful production in the company's 50-year history and has been seen by more than five million people worldwide.

Adrian's Olivier Award-nominated score for the stage production is a gorgeous orchestral epic of cinematic sweep. Rooted in a ripely emotional 20th-century British symphonic language, it also draws on the evocative melodies of English folk music.

War Horse Suite, a 20-minute symphonic work based on music from the show, received its world premiere performance with Gavin Sutherland conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at London's Cadogan Hall in June 2010.

It has also been performed by the London Arts Orchestra in October 2012.

In June 2010 at London's Cadogan Hall, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra gave the premiere of Adrian Sutton's War Horse Suite, a 20-minute symphonic work based on music from the show.

Adrian Sutton

"A fantastic piece of orchestral music rearranged from the score to the sell-out National Theatre production."
PRS for Music 'M magazine'

"Succeeds admirably dramatic, well-orchestrated warfare sequences followed by heart-rending melodies performed with professionalism and panache."

The CD soundtrack of War Horse was released in 2008, and was re-released in 2011 by Sony Masterworks.
